Understanding Wireless Video Camera

by Andi Monthat

Nowadays, our everyday lives can not be separated from video camera systems. With these cameras, we can monitor what the babysitter is doing while watching our kids. These cameras also alert us when someone breaks into our home. We can even monitor if someone is swimming in our pools.

For home security purposes, there are essentially two types of video cameras available. The first type is wired video camera and the second type is wireless video camera. Both types are essentially using the same basic components: cameras, control panels, motion detectors, alarms, keypads, etc. A wired video camera system uses standard Ethernet cable to connect devices, while a wireless system connects devices via a wireless router. Wireless video camera systems enable you to place cameras anywhere you need as long as you’re within specified distance. With wired video camera systems you are limited by camera placement.

The option to go wired or wireless depends on your needs and convenience. Many home owners get both versions. But the wired and wireless video surveillance versions give the same advantages when it comes to your home security. The advantage of going for wired video camera system is the confidence that a particular area of your home is permanently covered. A wired video camera cannot be transferred from one area to other important areas, so you have to add more cameras and have these installed in these important areas.

The most advanced innovation in home security is the wireless video camera system. These systems are much less involved in installation as there are no wires to worry about or walls to rip up, drill into, or risk destroying your home. This system can save money up front by eliminating the need for repairing those things damaged during installation but might ultimately cost more, as the need to replace batteries is quite frequent.

You can do many things at the same time with a wireless video camera system as you can add more cameras as you need. You can check certain areas while looking at other areas without going to those areas. This will save you time from going to other areas just to see what is going on in those areas when urgent job needs to be done.

When you add a mobile viewer, the flexibility of the wireless video camera system is enhanced. You can see all the important areas whether you are in the living room, dining room, in the garage, or at other areas. A wireless video camera system will give you peace of mind and control over your home.
